Publication date: Nov 12, 2019 11:35 AM

Talented and ambitious Southern Africans who aim to study in the Netherlands are now invited to apply for the Orange Tulip Scholarship programme. The scholarships support students and young professionals in realizing their potential. This programme has been set up by Nuffic Neso South Africa together with Dutch Higher Education Institutions.

Nineteen education institutions from the Netherlands contribute to the Orange Tulip Scholarship (OTS) providing more than 55 individual scholarships for Southern African applicants representing a total value of around 11 million. The scholarships are available for Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes, in a variety of academic subjects. Since most scholarships are partial the Orange Tulip Scholarship recipients will also have to contribute themselves.

Mervin Bakker, Regional Director of Nuffic Neso South Africa said: “We are very glad that we can launch the Orange Tulip Scholarship programme for the second time as we think Dutch higher education has a lot to offer to students from this region. First of all, the available scholarships will provide awardees with the opportunity to study in a world-class higher education system. Secondly, Dutch universities are truly international in terms of staff, students and their curricula, thus preparing students for the competitive global working place. Furthemore, the Netherlands offers high quality of living in a safe and tolerant country. Finally, I hope that recipients of an Orange Tulip Scholarship will be able to contribute to the further development of their country and  the region, and that as alumni they will be ambassadors for both Southern Africa and the Netherlands.”
