Liberation Scholarship Program
The Liberation Scholarship Program offers credit mobility scholarships to highly motivated students from Canada who would like to study in the Netherlands for a period of three to twelve months and become part of the long-standing historic ties between the two countries.
To celebrate seventy years of liberation and honour the sacrifices Canadian soldiers made for our freedom, the Netherlands has launched the Liberation Scholarship Program, as a token of lasting gratitude and friendship.
- You have Canadian citizenship.
- You apply for a study period between three and twelve months at one of the participating Dutch higher education institutions.
- Your study period in the Netherlands starts between 1 September 2016 and 1 June 2017, and ends before 1 September 2017.
- You meet the specific requirements of the institution of your choice and the specific language requirements.
You will receive a one-off partial scholarship of € 2,350 as a contribution to the costs for your stay in the Netherlands.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines contributes by offering a number of return tickets from Canada to the Netherlands. The value of these tickets may influence the scholarship amounts.
How to apply
Apply directly at one of the participating Dutch higher education institutions. Institutions can nominate students for this scholarship. They need to do this before 29 October 2016.
For this call a small number of scholarships are available. Ask the Dutch institution if they participate in this call and what their application deadline is.
About the Program
The Liberation Scholarship Program is offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science of the Netherlands, Nuffic, Dutch higher education institutions and a select group of Dutch and Dutch-Canadian companies.
