Chloe is from Vietnam and studying European Studies at The Hague University of Applied Science. Her uncle used to work in The Hague as a diplomat, so she knew about Holland before she came here. But it still was a big step to move halfway across the world! Luckely, she has found the perfect studies in The Hague.

Student Ambassador - Chloe

"Why did you decide to study in Holland"

“I wanted to do things with politics and languages. I also wanted to broaden my mind and become a critical thinker. I was first thinking about the USA. But that is really expensive and the quality differs greatly per institution. As does the price.”

“In Holland, I found that the quality of education is very high and the price is much lower. Also I liked that Holland is so multilingual and international.”

“Finally, my uncle suggested The Hague because he used to work there and is very taken with it.”

"What were you expecting Holland to be?"

“Holland is more international then I had expected. And everybody speaks English so well. Dutch people often speak more languages too. It is truly multilingual. Still, 80% of my fellow students is Dutch in the European Studies programme, so I was so exited to see that they are all so internationally minded”

"What strange Dutch things have you noticed so far?"

“Not really something actually…. You are all quite normal to me!”

"What is your favourite thing about Holland?"

“I love the open-mindedness of the Dutch people. You can almost say anything here!”

“At school I like that we do practical work for actual company cases. So you are really working on a connection to the market in relation to your field. Also, the teachers are so inspiring. They have made me who I am today”

"How is this experience valuable to you?"

“I am now exposed to more cultures than I would ever have been if I stayed in Vietnam. Also, I am not only learning from books, but to be a researching, critical thinker. This experience really made me grow!”

"What are your plans after graduation?"

“I want to work a bit and do a masters. Maybe apply for the orientation year as well. But I definitely want to stay, I love Holland!
