What if I made the wrong study choice?

This is a question that haunts many students that are going into university or are already studying. The number one piece of advice is to relax. It is completely normal to question your study choice. I have done the exact same thing

I came to the Netherlands with the intention of studying Chemistry because I really love it and I am really passionate about Chemistry and Biology. I started the program happy and excited to be living out my dream, but my emotions quickly changed when I realized how difficult I was finding it and how quickly I was falling behind. I spent so much time worrying and confused about this course soon I found myself questioning my study choice. After talking about this to my parents, study coach and friends I came to the conclusion that I should switch courses.

After many meetings with other course coordinators and counsellors I switched to International Business & Management the next semester. Before doing this, I weighed all my options and that one seemed to be the most suitable course for me. It is an extremely broad course and offers many different types of careers in many different sectors, so even though I am studying International Business, I still hope to find a career that has something to do with chemistry and biology like, for example, a sales person for chemical products.

As you can see, talking to someone you trust like a teacher, a counsellor, your friends & your family is extremely useful in these kinds of situations because they will understand you and sympathize with you and help you find the best solution because they also want the best for you! Now, as an International Business student, I am very happy and whenever I have any worries I have friends and teachers and family to help me make the right decision.

I am excited for the future because I know my future is bright. To all my readers who are in similar situations, I highly suggest that you don’t try to figure out everything for yourself because it will just give you stress that you don’t need. It is also important to act as fast as you can because they sooner you act the sooner you will find a solution. If you. Are in the same situation and need more advice or have any questions to ask about this topic, do not hesitate to ask me!
