(Vlog) Summer is the season of PRIDE

Netherlands is well known for its diversity and acceptance of differences. Summer in Holland is packed with many activities to celebrate the diversity in sexual orientations and the pride for being different. As a LGBTQ member myself, I always look forward to this time of the year.

17th June 2017 was the first time that Utrecht (a small but beautiful city near Amsterdam) hosted its first canal gay parade. It was also my birthday so i decided to take my sister (visiting me from Geneva, Switzerland) to Utrecht and experience the start of PRIDE season.

Utrecht is not the only city that hosts such extravagant event. Big cities like Rotterdam also have their own version. But the biggest and the most fun (i must say) is Amsterdam gay pride. Personally, i think that this occasion in Amsterdam is celebrated on an even bigger scale than the King day. This event normally consists of numerous activities scattered throughout the weekend with the highlight being the Canal gay parade on the first Saturday of August.  On this day, there are street parties everywhere, people put on their best outfits/costumes; and a fun and energetic atmosphere covers every corner of the center of the city. You can check this website out for the schedule of all parties and activities.

So if you are in the Netherlands for this weekend, make sure that you are present in Amsterdam to enjoy the parade and the parties. There is no limit to the fun you can have, but there is one rule you must always respect: Be open minded and show love to any LGBTQ members you know :D

Goodbye and enjoy the season of PRIDE!!
